Rivian Spaces Joshua Tree

Roadside Attractions are an integral part of the great American road trip and are rooted in nostalgia and intended to grab attention and spark a moment of joy. RDC worked with Rivian to create a Spaces hub in Joshua Tree, much like some of these historic landmarks; the site will act as both the draw and the event. Simple details, modest design, honest materials, and the opening up of the space to highlight views will reveal what Rivian is all about.

Small follies and placards will dot the landscape - creating moments for pause, play, and reflection - celebrating the fragile desert ecosystems that make this specific site special. On a larger scale, we intend to use this site to develop a standard of sorts for the Charging Outpost. The program will include a small no-waste food program, local trip planning focused on adjacent outdoor adventures, and patch and repair stations, which support the ultimate programmatic function of EV charging in a previously uncharted region.
