Sustainable Design at Laserfiche

From early design, the project team at RDC integrated sustainability and wellness concerns into Laserfiche. Created during the pandemic, the building demonstrates that forward-thinking creative offices are more vibrant that ever. Laserfiche was awarded an Energy Star score of 98 and has both LEED Platinum and WELL Gold Certifications.

The headquarters followed the principles of biophilic design, used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment. Office spaces feature open floorplates and large windows to take advantage of the area’s abundant sunshine and tree-top views, while mechanical areas concentrated along the western edge of the building prevent afternoon glare and excessive heat gain. In addition to promoting occupant health, these measures ensure maximum energy efficiency, a testament to the fact that health and environmental interests are often one and the same.

Material selection played a critical role in design, with 100% of products within the weather barrier meeting LEED standards for VOC limits. Furthermore, paints and coatings used on both the building interior and exterior feature a full life-cycle assessment, with published mitigation plans for environmental, health and safety risks posed by product manufacture, installation, maintenance and end-of-life.

Additional wellness features showcased include bike parking and showers for active commuters, a multi-purpose wellness room on each floor, and inviting naturally light staircases that encourage occupants to forego the elevator. The management team has implemented policies to promote employee mental health and provides fresh fruits and vegetables daily in each break room.
