Brad Williams, AIA

Chief Executive Officer

Brad Williams, AIA, is the Chief Executive Officer for RDC. Since joining the firm in 1999, he has focused on urban infill revitalization projects and high-density retail developments such as the award-winning Midtown Crossing. He has led teams on a variety of successful façade revitalization programs for both public and private entities, as well as institutional projects such as the USC Caruso Catholic Center and Our Savior Parish. He acquired his bachelor of architecture degree from Woodbury University and is a licensed architect in California.

Brad Williams, AIA, is the Chief Executive Officer for RDC. Mitra Esfandiari, AIA

Senior Principal

Since joining Retail Design Collaborative in 1994, Mitra Esfandiari, AIA, has made significant contributions to the firm's entertainment and high-end retail portfolio. She has led teams on a variety of award-winning experiential retail projects such as the repositioning of Del Mar Highlands Town Center in San Diego and Meridian Town Center in Idaho. Mitra has also led award-winning entertainment projects, such as Pacific’s The Grove Theater and Island Cinema. Mitra possesses a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a certificate of post-professional studies in architecture and urban design from UCLA. She is a licensed architect in California and an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Senior Principal

Since joining Retail Design Collaborative in 1994, Mitra Esfandiari, AIA, has made significant contributions to the firm's entertainment and high-end retail portfolio. Brian Wolfe, AIA, directly oversees and directs teams on commercial development projects. Since first joining the firm in 1987 he has guided many of Retail Design Collaborative’s private developer projects, including a number of award-winning developments. His strong working knowledge of planning, site development, and building construction provides essential guidance to team members on complex projects. Wolfe has over 29 years of architectural experience and holds architectural licenses in nine states. He is a Cum Laude graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo with a degree in architecture.

Branko Prebanda joined the firm at its inception in 1979 and was named principal in 1997. With a depth of knowledge and over 25 years of experience in planning, site development, design, building construction and codes, he has successfully led project teams with a combination of creativity and organizational skill, and contributed to the diversification and growth of the DC office. Joseph is accredited by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Central University of Venezuela.

Sean Slater, AIA

Principal

Sean Slater is our newest Principal at Retail Design Collaborative, after spending over twenty years practicing architecture in Berkeley, Atlanta and Austin. He has been a leader in nationally recognized firms including four years at ELS Architecture and Urban Design, seven years at tvsdesign and five years directing his own firm. With Sean's extensive experience in the domestic retail market, he will continue to further develop new business endeavors for Retail Design Collaborative. Sean was recently honored with the Urban Land Institute’s prestigious Apgar Award for co-authoring “New Suburbanism: Reinventing Inner-Ring Suburbs” and his article “Crafting Authenticity” graced the cover of the magazine’s June/July 2015 print and web edition. A registered architect in numerous U.S. states including California, Sean serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Entertainment Development Council and has spent time volunteering on various boards of directors from Berkeley to Austin. He is also active with the International Council of Shopping Centers and the American Institute of Architects. Sean received his Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin.

Steve Ruth, AIA, LEED® AP, NCARB

Steve Ruth, AIA, LEED® AP, NCARB is a founding partner of Retail Design Collaborative and serves as President. Since 1979, he has provided strategic direction for the company, administrative oversight as well as the delivery of client projects and emphasizing contract negotiations, schedule, budget and quality. Steve possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Moorhead State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, International Council of Shopping Centers and United States Green Building Council. A licensed architect in 25 states and a LEED Accredited Professional, he is also a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.

David Sheldon

Vice President of Client Engagement

David Sheldon is responsible for Retail Design Collaborative’s brand and business alignment. With nearly 20 years of experience, David has led business development and strategy of notable international firms in a variety of regions, worldwide. As Vice President of Client Engagement, David focuses on three aspects within Retail Design Collaborative. The first is brand positioning, which includes the marketing, messaging and strategic positioning of the firm to its mission. Second, he focuses on aligning the appropriate clients to the firm, and the firm to appropriate clients. Lastly, he strives to ensure that the positioning of the brand externally is matched with a mission-focused culture internally. David's past experience, as a Landscape and Urban Designer, has enabled him to align effectively with both clients and within the team. He serves as Vice Chair of ULI’s Entertainment Development Council, and has been an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers for over 15 years. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University.

David Sheldon

Ian Denny has worked in financial management for over 15 years in a variety of industries and firms, with a focus on the AEC community for the past seven years. Ian focuses on creating efficiency, leveraging technology to create transparency and provide real-time intelligence to decision makers and providing inspired leadership to teams in the front and back office. He collaborates effectively with teammates, executives, and other stakeholders to create sustainable and innovative solutions to stubborn business challenges and approaches relationships and objectives thoughtfully with an eye toward long term future success. Ian is passionate about creating win-win solutions where both people and profit benefit.

Chase is responsible for overseeing Retail Design Collaborative’s worldwide Information Technology and working collaboratively with other senior management to move the company forward. By in-housing most services, reorganizing technology staff, changing licensing structures and better implementing technology he has significantly improved efficiency; saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. He is always looking for new ways to put the company in the forefront of architecture.

Todd Pilgreen is the General Manage for Retail Design Collaborative’s Shanghai Office. Todd is responsible for developing new business strategies to proactively position the firms brand within the Asian market, as well as overall design leadership for the Shanghai office. With 25+ years of diverse mixed-use experience including developing business relationships worldwide Todd focuses on bridging the international cultural gap. Before joining Retail Design Collaborative, Todd founded Tpod Studio, an international design division located in Shanghai. Tpod built a successful reputation during the three years and completed several mixed use projects in China. Todd contributed 15 years of design leadership focused on mixed-use projects around the world. Todd holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from University of New Mexico and a Master of Architecture degree from University of California Los Angeles. He is a licensed Architect in the State of California, USA; a LEED Green Associate, an executive committee member of the American Institute of Architects Shanghai and an active committee member of Urban Land Institute, Asia Pacific.
