Once a substantially vacant and deteriorating shopping center, Retail Design Collaborative together with Vestar gave the 300,000 square foot retail space a major face-lift, transforming it into a localized community gathering space.
Over multiple phases our firm has designed major improvements to the center originally built in the 1950s. We've designed new ground up building additions, façade, shell and interior improvements, and site upgrades including landscaping and circulation. A pedestrian walkway separated parking lots and hindered vehicle circulation throughout the site. Retail Design Collaborative designed a connecting roadway with enhanced pedestrian amenities to make the shopping center more accessible for from all areas of the parking lots.
Our design improvements have helped increased new leasing in a center that has struggled with vacancies in recent years. Since the remodel, the center has added multiple tenants including: Ulta Beauty, Chipotle Mexican Grill and The Habit Burger Grill.
With more open space and new amenities including lighting, canopies, and landscape, the Peninsula Shopping Center has become a focal point for the City of Rolling Hills Estates.
