Boutique Design Magazine presented the 27th Annual Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design last month where The District on The Bloc Restaurant at The Sheraton Grand in downtown LA was awarded a Gold Key Award for Best Restaurant Casual Dining.

As the executive architect, Retail Design Collaborative worked closely with the design architect, McCARTAN. The design uses a unique series of deconstructed materials and unexpected repurposed plumbing, mechanical and construction elements. McCARTAN was inspired to break from the polished aesthetic of the Sheraton Grand, embracing an industrial grit inspired by downtown LA redevelopment projects. McCARTAN played with dividers that work both literally and aesthetically to direct guests through the various elements of the restaurant.

The atmosphere is an impressively curated art meets craft, past meets future vibe that is exceptionally attractive and utterly original. The design was achieved through an eclectic mix of exposed materials, natural walnut, quirky light fixtures and leather clad armchairs, with carpet walls in the bar and a red velvet curtain in the dining room.

Stop by The District at 711 South Hope Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017 to enjoy the incredible experience.
