Leadership

Brad Williams, AIA

Chief Executive Officer

Brad Williams, AIA, is the Chief Executive Officer for RDC. Since joining the firm in 1999, he has focused on urban infill revitalization projects and high-density retail developments such as the award-winning Midtown Crossing. He has led teams on a variety of successful façade revitalization programs for both public and private entities, as well as institutional projects such as the USC Caruso Catholic Center and Our Savior Parish. He acquired his bachelor of architecture degree from Woodbury University and is a licensed architect in California.

Brad Williams, AIA

Brad Williams, AIA, is the Chief Executive Officer for RDC. Mitra Esfandiari, AIA

Senior Principal

Since joining Retail Design Collaborative in 1994, Mitra Esfandiari, AIA, has made significant contributions to the firm's entertainment and high-end retail portfolio. She has led teams on a variety of award-winning experiential retail projects such as the repositioning of Del Mar Highlands Town Center in San Diego and Meridian Town Center in Idaho. Mitra has also led award-winning entertainment projects, such as Pacific’s The Grove Theater and Island Cinema. Mitra possesses a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a certificate of post-professional studies in architecture and urban design from UCLA. She is a licensed architect in California and an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Senior Principal

Since joining Retail Design Collaborative in 1994, Mitra Esfandiari, AIA, has made significant contributions to the firm's entertainment and high-end retail portfolio. Branko Prebanda

Senior Principal

Branko Prebanda joined the firm at its inception in 1979 and was named principal in 1997. He leads the Retail Studio at Retail Design Collaborative, working specifically with some of the world’s largest retailers. He has leveraged his experience to create streamlined processes that achieve project goals and best meet the needs of national retailers for ground-up, renovation and expansion efforts. He has also led teams on a variety of large-scale retail developments, including the award-winning Brea Marketplace and LEED® Gold Certified Plaza Pacoima. Prebanda is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Brian Wolfe, AIA, directly oversees and directs teams on commercial development projects. Since first joining the firm in 1987 he has guided many of Retail Design Collaborative’s private developer projects, including a number of award-winning developments. His strong working knowledge of planning, site development, and building construction provides essential guidance to team members on complex projects. Wolfe has over 29 years of architectural experience and holds architectural licenses in nine states. He is a Cum Laude graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo with a degree in architecture.

Sean Slater, AIA

Principal

Sean Slater is our newest Principal at Retail Design Collaborative, after spending over twenty years practicing architecture in Berkeley, Atlanta and Austin. He has been a leader in nationally recognized firms including four years at ELS Architecture and Urban Design, seven years at tvsdesign and five years directing his own firm. With Sean's extensive experience in the domestic retail market, he will continue to further develop new business endeavors for Retail Design Collaborative. Sean was recently honored with the Urban Land Institute’s prestigious Apgar Award for co-authoring “New Suburbanism: Reinventing Inner-Ring Suburbs” and his article “Crafting Authenticity” graced the cover of the magazine’s June/July 2015 print and web edition. A registered architect in numerous U.S. states including California, Sean serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Entertainment Development Council and has spent time volunteering on various boards of directors from Berkeley to Austin. He is also active with the International Council of Shopping Centers and the American Institute of Architects. Sean received his Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin.

Chase Miller finds enjoyment in problem solving through technology. He has spent the last 21 years in the field. His management experience and his personality allow him to easily communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Chase is responsible for overseeing Retail Design Collaborative’s worldwide Information Technology and working collaboratively with other senior management to move the company forward. By in-housing most services, reorganizing technology staff, changing licensing structures and better implementing technology he has significantly improved efficiency; saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. He is always looking for new ways to put the company in the forefront of architecture.

As Principal and Director of the Washington, DC office of Retail Design Collaborative Joseph Serruya is responsible for senior project oversight and business development for the Eastern Region. Joseph’s ability to identify and communicate the client’s goals and visions has fostered strong working relationships. With a depth of knowledge and over 25 years of experience in planning, site development, design, building construction and codes, he has successfully led project teams with a combination of creativity and organizational skill, and contributed to the diversification and growth of the DC office. Joseph is accredited by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Central University of Venezuela.

Ian Denny has worked in financial management for over 15 years in a variety of industries and firms, with a focus on the AEC community for the past seven years. Ian focuses on creating efficiency, leveraging technology to create transparency and provide real-time intelligence to decision makers and providing inspired leadership to teams in the front and back office. He collaborates effectively with teammates, executives, and other stakeholders to create sustainable and innovative solutions to stubborn business challenges and approaches relationships and objectives thoughtfully with an eye toward long term future success. Ian is passionate about creating win-win solutions where both people and profit benefit.

Ian Denny

Ian Denny has worked in financial management for over 15 years in a variety of industries and firms, with a focus on the AEC community for the past seven years. Ian focuses on creating efficiency, leveraging technology to create transparency and provide real-time intelligence to decision makers and providing inspired leadership to teams in the front and back office. He collaborates effectively with teammates, executives, and other stakeholders to create sustainable and innovative solutions to stubborn business challenges and approaches relationships and objectives thoughtfully with an eye toward long term future success. Ian is passionate about creating win-win solutions where both people and profit benefit.

Jackson Thilenius, AIA

Principal

With over 25 years of experience in the design and construction industries, Jackson has created a broad range of award-winning projects across the globe. As a Principal at RDC, Jackson brings his passion for design and innovation to every project, while jointly maintaining close client relations and quality assurance. As a writer, painter, sculptor, musician, and inventor, Jackson bridges the gap between art and architecture within every project he engages. Jackson’s diverse and extensive portfolio includes hospitality design, branding, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, urban planning, public art installation, set design, interior design, residential design, and bar/restaurant design. He has led projects all over the US as well as in Hong Kong, Manila, China, Porto, Panama, England, Costa Rica, Trinidad, Italy, and Spain. In addition to being a licensed Architect, Jackson is also an accomplished artist, with oil paintings showcased in galleries from Los Angeles to New York. He has been a freehand drawing instructor and design critic at Georgia Tech, and teaches oil painting from his private studio in Long Beach, CA.
